General Conference

Hey everyone! Another good week in Tizayuca has passed! Most of the week was pretty regular so I'll just share 3 experiences that were really good

Monday night we had an in-person lesson with a family in our neighborhood! They're really cool and nondenominational Christians, so we have some common ground. When we started the lesson they said they didn't really want to hear about the Book of Mormon, but just a bible based lesson. They had some really good questions based on love and forgiveness and we ended up sharing 2 scriptures with them from the Book of Mormon! They really liked the scriptures and we gave them a pamphlet on the restoration and we’re going back tonight to hopefully teach the restoration. This was a testament to me that the Book of Mormon is true, testifies of Christ and his doctrines, and can benefit all people! Also, in-person lessons are way more fun than on the phone haha!

Wednesday we had district counsel and interviews with President! Also in the morning I ran my mile PR! 5:28!! My goal was under 5:30 by the end of the transfer and I barely got it! Excited about that. In counsel we talked about the importance of the message of the restored gospel, and we practiced teaching the restoration in 5 minutes. Super hard but really fun and a good test for my Spanish! I did really well, I think. After this we had interviews which were really good. My first interview about 6 weeks ago wasn't my favorite because president brought in my comp to translate and just ended up talking to him most of the time. But this time, my Spanish was good enough to do it myself! We were able to talk about lots of things, and best of all he told me I could listen to classical music! Up until now Elder Garza had told me that we can only listen to the music on gospel library or hymns. And I thought we should be able to listen to classical music. If my parents in the 80s could listen to classical music on their missions, I’m pretty sure we can. But since he’s the trainer what he says goes. So I asked president and he said its fine. Not sure where Elder Garza’s idea came from but it’s fine haha. So I’ve been listening to lots of classical music lately!

Saturday and Sunday were General Conference. I hope you all had the opportunity to watch it! It was awesome. My favorites were Elder Renlund, President Nelson, and Elder Nash. All were super good and I hope you all had the chance to watch! If not, you should all listen to it, these men and women are called of God to share His words with us! It’s really a huge blessing. My favorite part was from Elder Renlund who said something like “Our love for God and each other must be greater than the differences between us” not an exact quote because we watched in Spanish and I can’t remember it exactly but something like that. If you only listen to one talk from the conference, it should be the one from Elder Renlund.

Anyway, the rest of the week has been pretty good! Earlier today we went with another companionship from Tizayuca to an all-you-can-eat wings place. I ate 12 wings and a burger so I’m very full haha. But I also tried their hottest wing, which if you know me is not something I would do normally, but I caved to peer pressure and tried it haha. My mouth hurt pretty bad for like 5 minutes but I made it through.

That’s all for the week! I love hearing from you guys! The gospel is true!!!
