This week was really good! It was honestly pretty normal, but I’m improving every day and trying to be a better missionary always.
I just want to share one really good experience that I had this week. So last week I mentioned that we were going to have the baptism of a family of 3. Blanca (single mom) Andrea (9 years old) and Karin (8 years old). Their whole family basically are members apart from them. So we were able to meet with Blanca and her kids a lot this week to get them all the way prepared for their baptisms. It was great because we got to have a lot of their family members in the lessons with us. They got to bear testimony of the things we were teaching, which was super special.
This family had been taught in the past, but they were never baptized. One of the reasons is because Blanca has a pizzeria, and she opens it on Sundays so a lot of the time she couldn’t come to church. But we taught them about the 10 commandments and spoke a lot about the importance of keeping the sabbath day holy. Her cousin (1st counselor in the bishopric) told a really cool story about his family, the store they run and keeping the sabbath day holy. He testified of the blessings his family received, and those that Blanca can receive, when they obeyed this commandment. It was a super spiritual moment, and the next day when we went to visit her (we have the lessons in her pizzeria) she had put a sign up that said she wouldn’t be open on Sundays anymore! That was such a huge blessing and a way we could see her commitment to the commandments. She didn’t just say she would open late so she could go to church, but she is now completely closed on Sunday. That was awesome.
Then when they got baptized, we had their family perform the ordinances. Their cousin Max and Uncle Ubaldo, who are recent converts themselves, got to baptize Andrea and Karin. Afterward, Max bore his testimony and it was such a great experience. I could feel the spirit so strong it was awesome. Anyway, I’m super happy for this family and the baptism they decided to receive.
That was really the huge highlight of the week. I also studied a bit in the life of Joseph Smith. He was really such an amazing man, and my testimony grew a lot in knowing he was the prophet of the restoration. I really love the story of when he was in Liberty Jail and he received sections 121 and 122 of Doctrine and Covenants. Those are verses that help me a lot when I’m feeling down, lonely, or not up to the huge task of missionary work.
Well, I hope you all had an awesome week! Sorry if my spelling was bad, I’m writing fast and I’m not speaking English that much right now haha. I love you all!!
