Happy and Sad

Hey everyone!

This week was really good, but with a sad part. I’ll just share a few things. To start with the sad part, one of the people I got to baptize in Tizayuca passed away. Her name was Nuevadelhi. She left behind her husband, a 4-year-old son and a 17-year-old son. I’m worried about her family and how they are doing, so if you could keep the Suarez family in your prayers that would be fantastic <3. She had cancer, was declared in remission but really just never got better. That was sad news to receive.

Other than that really sad part, we had a really great week. We are in the slowest zone in the mission, but this week we had tons of success in finding new people to teach and we were able to help a lot of people accept a baptismal date this week. That was really awesome and an answer to lots of prayers as a zone.

We had a really good experience when we had a family home evening at the house of a member. We got to invite 3 families we have been teaching, and they all loved it and asked when we are going to do another one. Members are awesome! We also found a new guy to teach this week, his name is Osvaldo, and we taught him the restoration the other day and he said it answered so many of his religious questions. I’m excited to keep working with him.

Elder Smurthwaite and I got to do something super cool for P-day today! There’s this huge statue of Christ above Pachuca on a hill, probably over 100 feet tall. We got to go up there and see the statue and see a great view of all of Pachuca. Super cool. And we got to drive through a different part of Pachuca, one that I had never been in and it’s so cool! Here they just build houses higher and higher up on the hills. Its super cool because the city just goes up the hills. Then on the way back we stopped in a good bike shop, like a real actual good one haha. and it felt good to be in such a familiar environment and talk to a few people about bikes.

But really it’s been a great week. I listened to a talk on Moses chapter 1 this week, which I really liked. It talks about and explains the vision Moses had and what we can learn from it. What I learned from that talk and my study in that chapter this week is that we are so important to God. His work and glory is to bring to pass OUR immortality and OUR eternal life. He can create anything, do whatever He wants, but what he really desires and works for is to help us become like Him. When we remember who we really are and who we can become, it helps us forget about the issues we have here on earth, and it helps me love others more fully as well. It’s a super great chapter and I want to invite you all to read it and think about it. Anyway, that’s about it for this week. I hope you’re all doing great, and I love hearing from you when you have time.

Love,

Elder Stevenson
