Hey everybody!
Really good week here in Presas. First off, to explain the title. Here they eat everything - skunk, racoon, possum etc. And I feel like that’s a Kentucky kind of thing to do. So Hidalgo is the Kentucky of Mexico! I haven’t eaten any of those things, but some people do, and they say it’s really good. I’ll take their word for it.
This week we literally had so many cool things happen. We put 3 of our friends on date for baptism and are planning to put 2 more people on date this week! And we had the baptism of a lady we’ve been teaching for a while, which was super awesome. Honestly, this area is so good and there are so many people who want to keep learning about Jesus Christ which is so cool!
This week has been interesting without bikes though. Lots of time walking and we are out of money :) but other than that the work here is so good! (Note: No one panic - Spencer has plenty of money in his bank account!)
Some other funny things have happened though. First off, we had exchanges, and I was with Elder Farías from Mexicali which is really close to Tijuana. He’s super funny and we had some interesting things happen that day haha. Also, we are teaching a family that has cows, so we took a picture with them. It made me think of Santa Clara (shout out mom) and there was a calf that was really cute. Also, ever since Elder Douglas came to the mission 2 weeks ago, we have been popping off!! This week as a zone we found 84 (!!!) people to teach, which was so cool. Usually we find like 50ish as a zone. Anyway, I’m super stoked on this area, the people we are teaching, and working with Elder Mora, he’s super cool.
As a mission we have been reading The Book of Mormon over again from the beginning and marking every time it mentions God, Jesus Christ, or the Gospel of Jesus Christ. And holy cow it’s helped me understand that The Book of Mormon really testifies of Jesus Christ. I’ve underlined his name so many times and I’ve only finished 1 Nephi! I’ve really been liking that, and we’ve been having way more success with the people we are teaching by testifying of The Book of Mormon and the restoration in every lesson and contact we do. The mission is so cool! I highly recommend it.
