Hey everyone!
It’s been a really good week - the main things are:
The area presidency announced that no missionaries in Mexico are allowed to use bikes. A missionary died a few weeks ago in a bike accident and I’m assuming it’s because of that. It’s kind of frustrating because in our area there’s not much public transportation and most of the people that we teach live far away. So, we will be spending a lot more money on the public transportation that we do have, a lot more time walking, and a lot less time teaching.
We had zone conference and leadership meeting with a member of the area presidency, Elder Douglas. He was super cool, and we have a lot of things to work on as a mission to improve. They asked me to conduct our zone conference, which was scary, but I did fine.
We had an actual miracle! We have a family on date to be baptized, but one of the daughters works every Sunday and her boss is super strict and hasn’t let her off work to come to church. So, we had the idea on Wednesday morning to fast with them. Wednesday afternoon in the lesson with them we invited them to fast so that their daughter could change her job. We fasted with the whole family and called them the next day to see how it went. The daughter had gone into work Thursday morning, and then a few hours later called her dad to come get her because she was going to quit. So she quit that job, went into town, and that same day had an interview and started a new job that will now let her rest on Sundays. We also found work for her other sister through a member in the ward. All of that happened in about 24 hours. It was so cool! We had been praying and praying for this family, but through a fast we finally got the answer, and now Monse (the daughter) will be able to come to church! She’s super excited to get baptized and has told us several times that she wants to go on a mission. They are a super cool family and will be getting baptized on the 10th of September.
This week has had lots of ups and downs, but I’ve enjoyed every day of it. I love being a missionary!!!
Love,
Elder Stevenson
