Happy New Year!

Hey everyone! This was an awesome week, and I’ll just share a few cool things that happened.

Sunday was Christmas, and it was awesome! But only like 20 people came to church, and nobody that we are teaching came :/ A lot were out of town and others didn’t want to wake up. But it was a great day anyway.

On Monday we found some awesome people! Monse and Jesus are super good. They were contacted by missionaries a few weeks ago in another area, but just moved to our area about a month ago. Jesus said that he wants to be a missionary! We met them on Monday and then taught them about the restoration and the Book of Mormon on Thursday, and it was super awesome. I’m really excited about them.

We have been teaching Lupita for about a month and a half, but for many different reasons we haven’t been able to have a lot of lessons or contact with her, but the last two weeks have been way better. So yesterday we put her on date for the 21st, and I know it will be awesome for her! She is really excited.

Fanny, our other friend with a baptismal date is doing super well. She is excited about getting baptized on the 16th, and she already knows a ton about the gospel! Honestly more than a lot of members haha. She will be an awesome member.

I had an exchange with Elder Maier from Flagstaff, AZ on Wednesday. It went super well! He is still in his training but is doing great. Their area is kind of weird and spread out with not much accessible public transportation, so we literally walked so much but it was a great day and we found some awesome new people to teach. And I saw the worst taken care of dog I think I’ve ever seen in my life haha. I’ll attach a picture.

The bad news is that the two kids we had on date (Axel and Ivan) had an issue. More that their mom had an issue with us and the members and a lot of things and doesn’t want her kids to get baptized anymore and doesn’t want to talk to us. That was really frustrating as we had done all that we could to help out her and her kids, but I don’t really think she understood that. But we will keep trying with them and hope that things change!

This week I have really just been able to feel the joy of being a missionary and doing missionary work. We were able to find a lot this week and teach quite a few lessons and it just made me really happy. I loved it. And here I’ll put in a favorite scripture from the week.

Alma 48:17

"Yea, verily, verily I say unto you, if all men had been, and were, and ever would be, like unto Moroni, behold, the very powers of hell would have been shaken forever; yea, the devil would never have power over the hearts of the children of men."

Imagine!!! We should be more like Moroni!

Love, Elder Stevenson
