Hey everyone!
This week had its ups and downs but was good overall!
A few of the bummer things that happened were that Fanny said she wants to push back her baptismal date for a few family issues and things, and we aren’t sure when she is going to want to get baptized, if it will be later next week or if it’ll be longer.
Also, Lupita changed jobs and it’s a lot harder to have lessons with her, so I’m not sure she will get baptized next weekend either, but we will see what happens.
Also, we had an awesome family that we found a few weeks ago tell us that they are moving soon so that is also a bummer. And I got pretty sick the other day. But enough with the negative! Because no one wants to hear that.
There have also been some really cool things that have happened lately. For example, last Sunday I got to translate for Hermana Wright at a stake conference in Actopan. It was scary translating in front of so many people, but I think I did really well. I served in that stake about a year ago, and I got to see several members at the conference who I really came to love. I got to see Blanca and her two daughters who I baptized, the Garcia family who had just gotten baptized when I got there, and we became really close. And just a few weeks ago they were sealed in the temple which was so cool! It was really great to see them and see that the work I do as a missionary actually makes a difference in the lives of the people here. That was honestly one of the coolest experiences of my mission, for sure.
We have also been teaching a guy named Hector, who knows a lot about the bible and things, but says he doesn’t need a church or a group. We are changing that little by little by helping him understand the bible, and not just know what it says. It’s really cool.
I just want to share part of a general conference talk that I love, called "The Need for a Church"
“Years ago, I changed my attitude about going to church. No longer do I go to church for my sake, but to think of others. I make a point of saying hello to people who sit alone, to welcome visitors, … to volunteer for an assignment. …
“In short, I go to church each week with the intent of being active, not passive, and making a positive difference in people’s lives.” (Elder Oaks, October 2021)
I love this! We need to go to church with the intention of helping others! Not just being served. Have a great week and serve someone!!
